Mercato: Where It All Began

It has to be said that the title of this blogpost went through a gazillion revisions. It started with "Where I Met David Guison" but eventually evolved to "Where It All Began".

Why? Well, this was originally going to be a birthday post for David and I was going to write about the day that we met. But then I realized this isn't where I met David. This is where we talked and hung out for the first time outside of bloggers' events and the night that I would say we started to become friends.

This is also the night where three guys made me realize that you don't need alcohol, cigarettes or a big group of people to have fun. Naks! This is where my friendship with Miko, Dave and Gerd truly began: in Mercato, one Saturday night last September.

Before this night, everything I knew about David Guison, I knew from Hezron Peralta. Haha. I'm sorry, but it's true. I'm not much of a fangirl in terms of bloggers and I don't usually read other people's blogs until they comment on mine or someone tells me to. This was the case with David.

Although I would see him at bloggers' events and knew that he was the top male blogger on the rise (naks!), Hezzy only introduced us briefly (coincidentally on the same night that I met Miss Christine Liwag! :p) and we never really talked until Mercato. And that's when I found out the following things:

David has awesome fashion sense.

I was only starting to really like Gerd around that time and was sneaking in "OMG, I think I really like him, Miko" conversations whenever Gerd and Dave went to get food together; but I swear this isn't biased.

When I got home that night, I stalked David's blog for the first time and found out why so many people look up to him and get inspired by him on a daily basis.

David has another side to him.

As mentioned earlier, I only knew David from events and from what I heard from Hezzy, so seeing this whole new side of him was definitely an eye-opener for me. It's not that I judged David from his position in the blogging world or anything, but the few instances where I did get to talk to David before, I got the impression that he was quiet and reserved and *forgive the term* boring.

He really isn't. :p

Throughout the night, David told us more about his mahiwagang "coin case" and even showcased how it works.

David is dedicated to his craft.

More so than any other blogger I know. Seriously. He brings his laptop with him practically everywhere and works on his blog whenever he finds time to do so. Yes, even in Mercato.

When we were in Baguio, Dave diligently updated his blog and post-processed his outfit photos, too. This in itself warrants the statement "David deserves all of the success that is coming his way and more". It helps that he is one of the most humble people I know, as well.

Let me stop there. I don't want this to sound like a fangirl, OMG-Dave-I-love-you post. But I do. Yihee! :p Thank you for the many unforgettable memories during the last quarter of 2012, Dave, and I hope for many, many more this 2013... starting tomorrow! Happy birthday! :)

Looking forward to Bicol with these boys!

I'm going to end this post with an excerpt from a fellow blogger's recent blogpost:

"They say real friends are hard to find, I say they're right. It took me years to find these gems I call my friends and I'm just glad that I did. I guess it's true when they say that it's not the people you've known the longest that matter, but the people who came and never left. I've always believed everything happens for a reason. Friends leave to make room for new (and better)ones and we just have to look past the feeling of hurt and betrayal to realize that sometimes a friend leaving can be a blessing in disguise."
